Above Health – Allergy & Asthma Care Management for Mobile

 

Overview

Above Health is a mobile app that helps patients manage allergy and treatment care in one place – tracking daily dosage and symptoms, communicating with an AI health assistant, coordinating lab results and medication refills, and scheduling provider visits. This is a startup project. I was a founding product designer designing the entire product from 0. The target user is allergy patients.

 

My Role:

As the founding Product Designer, I owned the end-to-end flow design and UI for Above Health’s core patient experience, from onboarding through daily treatment tracking and care coordination.

 

1. Onboarding & Personalization

– Designed the full onboarding flow for new and returning users, including account creation, username setup, and a personalized allergy questionnaire (food, medication, and environmental allergies) that tailors the app to each patient from their first session

– Built a family-member account flow so caregivers can create and manage profiles for dependents under one login

– Mapped the complete decision logic (returning user vs. new user, family member vs. self) as a flow diagram to align engineering on edge cases before high-fidelity design

 

2. Daily Health Tracking & AI-Assisted Care

– Designed a dosage-tracking system for food allergen exposure (egg, peanut, protein, etc.) with inline dose logging and auto-save, removing the need for a manual save step

– Designed a biometric timer widget that stays active across the app and on the lock screen, so patients can track a reaction-monitoring window hands-free after logging a dose

– Designed an AI health assistant supporting both text and voice chat, so patients can ask health questions in whichever mode is most comfortable for them

– Unified labs, treatment charts, and medication refill requests (including provider messaging for refills) into a single health dashboard

 

3. Scheduling & Care Coordination

– Designed the visit-scheduling flow end to end: provider search and filtering, insurance verification, and support for both video and in-person visit types

– Handled distinct states for users with no visits, only past visits, or upcoming visits, plus a multi-step booking confirmation flow with insurance and payment steps

– Designed the “Find a Provider” and “Book a Visit” flows as a single connected system so scheduling for yourself or a family member follows the same pattern

 

Impact & Results

✔️ Led the end-to-end design of the Above Health mobile experience from concept to production through App Store launch.

✔️ Combined key healthcare features into one seamless mobile experience.

✔️ Received positive feedback from users after launch, which validated the architecture, streamlined navigation, and overall usability.

✔️ Established a scalable design foundation that continues to support new features in the future.
